100215 | JAPAN. Yoshihito (Emperor Taishō) silvered bronze Award Medal. Dated Taishō 3 (1914). Presented by the Tokyo Taishō Exposition, for 2nd place (63mm, 119.77 g, 12h).
會覧博正大京東 (Tokyo Taishō Exposition), façade of the Main Gate at Ueno Park; around to right and below, laurel branches intertwined with various implements of the arts, sciences, and industry; 牌銀 [in seal script] (silver medal) on banner across central field / 年三正大 [in seal script] (year 3 Taishō), emblem of the exposition: stylized sakura with interior maze-like maeander pattern; below, branch with cherry blossoms (sakura). Edge: Hallmark.
Gem Mint State. Brilliantly argent surfaces, with some areas of a darker tone. Highly attractive and impressive; includes original box of issue (though broken into two parts), marked 牌銀 [in seal script] (silver medal). A highly interesting and attractive piece.
