A German fairy tale that was included in the compilation by the Brothers Grimm, "The Pack of Ragamuffins" features a cock and hen who are out searching for nuts. In the process, they compose a carriage to hold their haul and encounter a mischievous duck who challenges them for their findings. The cock defeats the duck and, as punishment, forces the duck into servitude by drawing the carriage. The crew then goes on to create much disruption with an innkeeper, which is the source of the fairy tale's name.
