    ANTOINE COYPEL, bust facing slightly left / Head of satyr uplifted to right, holding painter's palette; all set upon textured background. Edge: «cornucopia» BRONZE.

     

    Choice Gem Mint State. Light brown-bronze surfaces, with great brilliance. Includes original box of issue.

     

    Antoine Coypel was a French painter, engraver, and draughtsman, who would eventually become court painter to the French king. Famous for his biblical and mythological works, he featured a number of satyrs in his works, as indicated on the reverse of this whimsical and somewhat spooky medal.
