100116 | ROMAN EMPIRE. Lucius Verus silver Denarius. Contemporary imitation of Rome mint. Struck CE 163 or later (17mm, 2.91 g, 6h).
IMP L VERVS ΛVG, laureate head right / PROV DEOR TR P XVII COS III, Providentia standing left, holding globe and cornucopia.
Cf. RIC III 67 (Marcus Aurelius); cf. MIR 18, 64-4/21 (same); cf. RSC 522 (same). Choice About Uncirculated. Lustrous; minor flan crack consistent with contemporary imitations. A very rare and interesting muling of a Lucius Verus obverse and a Marcus Aurelius dated reverse.
