    DIRECTEUR DU MUSÉE DE L'HOMME ET DE L'INSTITUT DE PALEONTOLOGIE HUMAINE / HENRI V VALLOIS, bare head left / ANTHROPOLOGIE PALEONTOLOGIE ANATOMIE, skeleton standing right, in attitude of reflection, resting skull upon one hand and the other hand upon another skull set upon base inscribed Γνῶθι σεαυτόν (know thyself). Edge: BRONZE «cornucopia».

     

    Gem Mint State. Rich reddish-bronze surfaces, with a pleasing brilliance. A very rare and highly interesting piece.

     

    A rather famous French anthropologist, palaeontologist, and anatomist, Vallois had a fairly extensive career, serving as the editor-in-chief of Revue d'Anthropologie for 38 years and living to the age of 92.
