K KARL IV HAUPT DES LÜZELBURG HERRSCHERSTAMM IN BRANDENB BIS 1378 NOV 29, draped bust facing slightly left, wearing crown with earflaps / KURFÜRST OTTO ÜBERGIEBT DIE MARK BRANDENBURG DEM KAISER 1373 AUG 15, reception scene: Holy Roman Emperor Karl IV seated right on gothic throne, receiving Otto V von Bayern and transferring the margraviate of Brandenburg from him to Wenceslaus (Václav) IV of Bohemia, standing to his right; secular and clerical witnesses standing around them. Edge: Plain.
Marienburg 4209; Künker 293 (27 June 2017), lot 400. Choice Mint State. Deeply toned and prooflike, with a high degree of reflectivity; a few light hairlines are noted merely for completeness. Extremely rare striking in silver, with the Marienburg and Künker specimens being the only other examples which this calaloger could locate in this metal, and the present piece being far more attractive than the Künker medal.
