ALEXAN • VII • PONT • MAX • A • I, bust of Alexander right, wearing camauro and stole / VIVO EGO IAM NON EGO (I live [the life of Christ], and yet I do not live [my own]..., –adapted from Galatians 2:20), bust of Christ left. Edge: A few light marks, otherwise plain.

 

Cf. Lincoln 1162. Choice Mint State. Alluring red-brown surfaces, with some pleasing luster.

 

The reverse legend refers to a passage in Galatians, whereby Paul states that he was not living the life of himself, but rather that of the Beloved [Christ].
