    100836 | GERMANY. Prince Heinrich von Preußen zinc Medal. Issued 1918. World War I series (34mm, 14.65 g, 12h). By B. H. Mayer's in Pforzheim.

     

    HEINRICH PRINZ VON PREUSSEN, bust facing slightly left / HEIL UND SIEG, eagle flying left, grasping laurel branch in talons; garlanded and rayed crown below; to left, sailor standing left on Jacobs ladder, determining coordinates; to right, racer driving racecar right. Edge: Plain.

     

    Cf. Zetzmann 2172b (metal unlisted). Mint State. Slate gray surfaces, with some scattered marks and roughness typical of the metal. Very rare.

     

    A younger brother of German Emperor Wilhelm II and a grandson of England's Queen Victoria, Prince Heinrich was a career naval officer, named Commander-in-Chief of the Baltic Fleet at the outset of World War I.
