    100848 | GERMANY. Silver Shooting Klippe Medal. Issued 1900. Commemorating the 13th Federal Shooting Festival in Dresden, from 5–15 July (34x34mm, 28.11 g, 12g). By the Glaser & Son workshop.

     

    Germania seated left, holding oak branch and resting elbow upon coat-of-arms; oak branch in each angle / XIII / DEUTSCHES / BUNDESSCHIESSEN / DRESDEN / JULI 1900, veduta of Dresden; shield with oak branches and rifles in exergue. Edge: Plain.

     

    Peltzer 1021. Choice Mint State. Exceedingly lustrous and brilliant, with great peripheral iridescence; a few light hairlines in the fields. Rare.

     

    Similar to their Swiss counterparts, federal shooting festivals in Germany were held at intervals first of every three years, with rotating venues serving as host cities and ranges and extensive breaks during each world war. 2,100 participants from six nations took part in the festivities in 1900, held at 172 shooting ranges.
