    FR EBERT REICHSPRÄSIDENT, bust right / Square tablet inscribed –REICHS– / PRÄSIDENT / VOM / 11 FEBRUAR / 1919–1925 in five lines; birth date and death date above and below; branch to left and right. Edge: 990.

     

    Choice Mint State. Exceptionally prooflike, with intense brilliance and great frosting to the devices, while a subtle golden tone is around the peripheries.

     

    A pivotal figure in the German Revolution at the end of World War I, Friedrich Ebert served as the first president of the newly created Weimar Republic from 1919 until his death in 1925. Ebert was then succeeded as Reichspräsident by celebrated World War I hero Paul von Hindenburg.
