    Water buffalo standing right among the weeds and ferns. Edge: Ā«cornucopiaĀ» BRONZE; a few light marks on the bottom side.

     

    Choice Mint State. Glossy bronze-brown surfaces.

     

    Likely issued around the time of the French colonial expoā€”held in Paris from Mayā€“November 1931ā€”this is from a series of ten plaques sculpted by Maurice RenĆ© ThĆ©not displaying animals from Africa. All are rather imposing and feature the very much en vogue use of Art Deco.
