Soldier falling left to his knees, clutching at his chest, holding sword, and being received by angel / VND WER DEN TOD IM HEILGEN KAMPFE FAND / RVHT AVCH IN FREMDER ERDE IM VATERLAND (and whoever found death in this holy struggle also now rests in the foreign earth of the fatherland), pickelhaube draped in oak wreath and Iron Cross. Edge: D 556 12.

 

Mint State. Essentially as cast, reddish-brown surfaces, with a few flecks of green oxidation. A rare and rather large piece.
