    101421  |  FRANCE. Automobile silver Award Medal. Issued 1929 for the Auto Show at La Baule (50mm, 57.45 g, 12h). By H. Demey.

     

    Antique car left, with driver and two attendants, each wearing tricorne hat / Laurel and oak branch bundled together and curled left; decorative cartouche reading CONCOURS D'ÉLÉGANCE / EN AUTOMOBILE / LA BAULE 1929 in three lines. Edge: Countermark on either side of ARGENT.

     

    Cf. iNumis (December 2014), lot 279 (for a dated issue to 1930); cf. Stack's Bowers CCO (October 2020), lot 71467 (which sold for a total of $408). Choice Mint State. Mostly steel gray surfaces with a light tone. A very rare and interesting Art Deco automobile medal. Includes original case of issue.
