Antique light bulb, suspended and illuminated / EXPOSITION INTERNATIONALE / D'ELECTRICITÉ / SOUVENIR / VIENNE 1883 in four lines. Edge: Plain. Loop attached at the top.

 

Mint State. Highly brilliant and prooflike, with some scattered marks. Very rare and interesting.

 

Running from 1 August to 31 October in 1883, the exposition marked the third such occasion for this event (the first being in Paris in 1881, and the second in München in 1882), and illuminated what the future might look like as the harnessing of electrical power started to take a greater hold in everyday life.
