TEMPLVM MAXIMVM MEDIOLANI, exterior view of the cathedral from the east-northeast / Interior view of the nave, from a vantage point right of center. Edge: Plain. Choice Mint State.
Exceptionally brilliant and lustrous, with some scattered light marks in the fields; great relief and intricacy.
A monumental and time-consuming project to complete, the Duomo di Milano was begun 1386 and completed nearly six full centuries later in 1965. It stands as the largest church in Italy, and one of the largest in all of Europe, rivalling the Cathedral in Sevilla and trailing the mighty complex of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City.
