Originally founded in 1666 in Stockholm for the manufacturing of belts, the company that would come to be known as Sporrong was taken over by Carl Claes Sporrong in 1842 following several name and ownership changes. The firm continues to this day under the same name, and added medallic art to its portfolio in the 20th century. This medal celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Sporrong name in 1942, and those who have purchased Swedish medals from us in the past may well recognize the company as a prolific manufacturer.
