    102007  |  FRANCE. Besançon. Reconnaissante Lodge silver Award Medal. Issued circa 1865 (37mm, 22.01 g, 12h). Engraved and awarded to the lodge's archivist, “Very Dear Brother” Rottée.

     

    Laurel wreath containing engraving as follows: O∴ BESANÇON on ribbon; below, radiant Eye of Providence above compass, square, and ruler containing G; trowel and mallet to left and right / Laurel wreath containing engraving as follows: "à son Archiviste / le T∴ C∴ F∴ Rottée / la loge Reconnaissante" in three lines. Edge: «bee» ARGENT.

     

    Cf. Marvin 574 (for a similar award medal from the lodge). About Uncirculated Details. Highly mirrored and lightly toned, though minor hairlines are noted. Excellent engraving and lettering.
