GROSSHERZOG FRIEDRICH II v. BADEN, bust facing slightly right in military attire / Four soldiers advancing right, each holding rifle; in exergue, grand ducal coat-of-arms surrounded by 1914–1916. Edge: SILBER 800.

 

Zetzmann 4142. PCGS SP-63. Extremely vibrant and brilliant, with a great prooflike nature and some attractive iridescence. The finer of just two observed in the PCGS census.

 

Friedrich served as the final Grand Duke of Baden, ascending to the throne upon the death of his father in 1907. Following the conclusion of World War I and the dissolution of the German Empire, the Grand Duchy ceased to exist.
