  • Details

102462  |  SWEDEN. "Three Leaves" silver Brooch, 1948 (53, 18.93 g). By Stig Engelbert for Ateljé Stigbert.

Three leaves in an overlapping fashion, set to varying heights; back side: working pin for clasping, along with various hallmarks, including the company's signature, and X8 (=1948).

Nearly as made. Lightly toned. A great piece of modern art typical of Stigbert's line of jewelry.

Stig Engelbert received his artistic training in Pforzheim, Germany, at the Kunstgewerbeschule, like so many of his Swedish goldsmithing contemporaries. He eventually formed the Ateljé Stigbert (a portmanteau of his first and last name), which became famous for its "50s Modernism" style, utilizing plant motifs for brooches, bracelets, and necklaces, as well as some delving into more geometric and abstract types.
