Established in 1668, the Riksbank (the bank of the kingdom) stands as the oldest central bank in the world, and the fourth oldest bank overall—behind only the Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena in Firenze (Florence, Italy), Berenberg Bank (in Hamburg, Germany), and Child & Co. (in London, England).
