Skull and crossbones; above and below, banner inscribed ÆTERNUM / SUB SOLE NIHIL (nothing under the sun is everlasting) // JONATHAN A LUCHTENBURG ORD PROVINCIÆ TRAIECTA SECRETIS, crowned familial coat-of-arms of van Luchtenburg; Θ4 JANUARII, 1685. Edge: Some minor roughness and deposits.

 

Dugniolle 5508; KPK 1354; Anspach 1935; Bosch 1577. PCGS MS-63 Brown. Dark brown surfaces, with some lighter highlights and subtle brilliance in the fields. The only example of the type in bronze seen at PCGS, with just one other seen there in silver (an AU-55, and an example that realized a total of nearly $1,900 [ChF 1,680 after buyer's fee] in SINCONA 83 (15 May 2023), lot 3310.)
