Most collectors of ancient coins instantly recognize the name of Pozzi on account of the famous collection that he assembled, but he was also a fairly well known professor, surgeon, and gynecologist from the late 19th-early 20th centuries. As such, this commemorative medal celebrates him in this role, with the personification of more modern healthcare for women being shown as warding off Death.
