Rau was commissioned to produce portrait medals of Henry Ford, Henry Ford II, and Ethel Ford, which were meant to hang in the entrance hall of the Ford factory in Antwerp. From these designs, smaller uniface medals were then struck, such as the example here. Despite a mintage of 300, this stands as a type that is seemingly quite rare and seldom seen.
