An event celebrated each century on the anniversaries of the Protestant Reformation, this medal commemorates the 300th anniversary of the Reformation in Bern. While the successive anniversaries of 1517 are celebrated in conjunction with Martin Luther's nailing of his Ninety-Five Theses to doors of Wittenberg Cathedral, the date of 1528 is used as the basis here, as that is when the movement brought fervor to Bern.
