Another interesting representation of the passage of time and the arrival of a new year, this plaque (annually produced by Mayer & Wilhelm from 1900 to 1940, though with yearly variation of the designs and with some interruption from wars) features a figure of an old man who embodies the previous year now coming to an end. In the foreground, a youthful winged Genius, who embodies the emergence of the new year, revels in the radiant light of hopeful prosperity to come.
