TO THE GLORIOUS MEMORY OF THOSE WHO FELL THAT DAY, trident with anchor at base; garlanded together with it is a shield with "31 / MAY / 1916" in three lines and national and naval banners crossed in saltire // MAY 31, 1916 / THE / GERMAN FLEET / ATTACKED OFF THE COAST / OF JUTLAND AND DRIVEN BACK / INTO PORT WITH HEAVY LOSS / ADMIRAL SIR JOHN JELLICOB / COMMANDER IN CHIEF / VICE ADMIRAL SIR DAVID BEATTY / COMMANDING / BATTLE CRUISER / FLEET in twelve lines; all within garlanded oak wreath. Edge: Plain.
BHM 4124; Eimer 1951. Choice Mint State. Highly lustrous and prooflike, with great mirrored brilliance among the fields. Some minor warping of the planchet as made is noted however. Includes original cardboard box of issue, though rather distressed, and bears the sticker "sold for the benefit of naval orphanages."
