1889 London mint Bun Head/Britannia penny, with engraving upon obverse: Bonnet and military jacket, with "SA" upon collar and badge upon shoulder. Edge: Plain.

 

Schweyer ch. 100 [p. 635, fig. 9]; cf. SCBC 3954 (for host coin); cf. KM 755 (same). Engraving: About Uncirculated; Host coin: Extremely Fine.

 

Though sometimes thought to be suffragette or Second Boer War/South Africa-related, it seems most likely that these intriguing types instead touch upon a satirization of the Salvation Army in England—a Wesleyan-Holiness-aligned charitable organization and church founded in London 1865 by William Booth.
