Youthful male standing slightly right within broken tuyn (sheepfold), planting sapling; to inner left, overturned obelisk bearing perched eagle and N (representing Napoleonic France); thistle to inner right; in exergue, oval medallion featuring facing sailing ship free from shackles; decorative scrollwork to left and right // Crowned Dutch coat-of-arms with leonine supporters atop banner reading JE MAINTIENDRAI (I shall sustain thee); in seven lines on central plaque below, EERSTE / EEUWFEEST / VAN HET / HERSTEL VAN / NEERLAND'S / ONAFHANKELIJKHEID / МСМХIII. Edge: Minor corrosion spot, otherwise plain.
Pelsdonk 121; Bax 170; Silich III, 1223 (this medal). Choice Mint State. Charming tan-brown surfaces, with some light matte aspects. From a mintage of 298 in bronze.
