Brettauer 94; Storer 338; Hyckert II, 130, 2; Hildebrand 345, 1. PCGS SP-63. Extremely lustrous and vibrant, with exceptional colorful toning scattered about. Includes old collector's envelope. Very rare in silver, and the only example of the type in silver in the PCGS census.

 

Born in Sweden in 1779, Jöns Jacob Berzelius would begin his career as a physician before pursuing research in chemistry. It is in this latter field that he would discover much fame, being known in Sweden as the "Father of Swedish Chemistry," and known more broadly as one of the founders of modern chemistry. He made long-lasting contributions to areas such as electrochemistry and stoichiometry, with his empirical methods leading to his discovery of numerous elements, such as Cerium, Selenium, Silicon, and Thorium.
